Google, In February 2018 announced it is combining all its payment-related apps into a single app called Google Pay. And also Google Wallet app is now called the Google Pay Send. It is a peer-to-peer transaction, it allows the users to send and also receive money.
Google Tez launched as a payment service app in India around a year ago. Now, Google is giving it a big push. As part of the program, Google is re-branding Tez to Google Pay. Reportedly Google wants to push Tez into a fully featured app so that it can use for every payment-related service in India.
Google has added new features to it such as retail payments, both online as well as Offline, Microloans, etc. Google has now partnered with a no of local banks, such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Federal Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank. These banks will give “pre-approved” loans through the app in a matter of seconds.
Google has also planned to expand Google Pay to other regions as well. These mean embedded features from Tez to Google Pay in other regions of Asia as well. However, it will require new partnerships and more localisations.
