Sundar Pichai, Google CEO has recently announced at 2017 developer’s conference which was organized by Google itself that Google is moving from “Mobile-first” world to an “Artificial Intelligence-first” one. His presentation also broke the old traditional presentation style. His presentation reflected on rethinking of traditional presentation style.
Some of the senior managers and executives from Google has told at visual storytelling plays an important role in sending their messages across world-wide. Google employees has been trained to present in a bolder, unique, less text and more visual.
“Since stories are best told with pictures, bullet points and text-heavy slides are increasingly avoided at the Google”, Sundar Pichai said at the conference. This first slide had seven logos form Google’s top most products such as the [Search, YouTube, and Android etc.] followed by the text “1 Billion Users.” This point of slide was made to explain Google’s product attract more than 1 Billion monthly users.
His slide has lots of white spaces and he didn’t fill any extraneous words or numbers.
Researchers say that the average PowerPoint slide contains 40 words. Whereas Sundar Pichai’s presentation took 12 Slides to reach 40 words. Majority part of his slide contains photos and animation.
The brain can’t do two things at once
Sundar Pichai and Google slide designers are creating brain-friendly presentation. Scientists says that it is impossible to multi-task as well as to think. Brain cannot do two things with equal amount of importance. On coming to presentation, the viewers can’t read the text on screen and listen to the speaker.
Many Books about the Brain suggest that “We are incredible at remembering pictures. Hear a piece of information, and three days later you’ll remember 10 percent of it. Add a Picture and you’ll remember 65 percent of it.”
